"I was curious how doctors and dentists can use the same tools on multiple patients each day," explains Shannon, "and discovered that medical-grade stainless steel could be washed and reused more than 10,000 times without being compromised."
"With a lot of heavy lifting from a dear friend who’s an engineer, I was able to design cosmetic components that were made out of medical-grade stainless steel. We then created a patent-pending triple cleansing process to remove any excess goop and microbial buildup, which allows for sanitary refills.”
Since producing a zero waste product was the goal, Shannon had to address all of the microplastics commonly found in cosmetic components.
"We eventually landed on a plant-based plastic resin called POM ECO-B,” explains Shannon, “which allows us to melt down and remold the wands and applicators to make them new again. So the plastic we use always gets reused. We truly are walking the walk about being a zero waste brand from start to finish."
